Bandston · Privacy Policy
Bandston is a trivia game. It doesn't have accounts and doesn't ask for any personal information to play. If you play the Daily Challenge or turn on Cloud Backup, Bandston sends a randomly generated device ID (and, if you choose to set one, a display name) to our own server so we can run the daily leaderboard and let you restore your progress on a new device. We don't sell that data or share it with anyone. The only outside service Bandston talks to is Google AdMob, which shows the ads that keep the game free, and which collects an advertising identifier to do that.
Information you provide. Nothing is required to play. If you use Cloud Backup or the Daily Challenge leaderboard, you can optionally set a display name (1–20 characters), which is the only thing you directly type in anywhere in the app.
Information collected automatically: advertising. Bandston uses Google AdMob to show ads. To do that, AdMob collects your device's advertising identifier and uses it to select and measure ads. We don't receive this identifier ourselves. It's collected directly by Google's SDK running inside the app.
Information collected automatically: Daily Challenge & Cloud Backup. The first time you play the Daily Challenge or use Cloud Backup, Bandston generates a random device ID (not tied to your name, email, or any account) and stores it on your device.
Information stored only on your device. Your top 10 high scores, lifetime stats, and badge progress are always saved locally on your phone first. They're only sent to our server if you play the Daily Challenge or turn on Cloud Backup, as described above. The rest of the game, the main practice mode, never sends anything anywhere.
The only third party involved in Bandston is Google AdMob, which serves the in-app ads. AdMob may work with its own network of advertising partners. Google's use of data collected through AdMob is governed by their own policies:
The Daily Challenge leaderboard and Cloud Backup are run on our own server, not a third party's, and that data isn't shared with, sold to, or processed by anyone else.
If you're in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, Bandston shows a consent form the first time you open the app, and you can revisit that choice any time from the Privacy Options button on the Stats & Badges screen. Everywhere else, you can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier at any time from your device settings (on Android, this is typically Settings → Google → Ads). You can also clear Bandston's locally stored data at any time from Settings → Apps → Bandston → Storage → Clear Data.
Every part of Bandston works fully offline except the Daily Challenge and Cloud Backup. If you'd rather nothing ever leave your device, you can simply not use those two features and still play the full game.
To request deletion of data associated with the Daily Challenge or Cloud Backup, email us your device ID or backup code at netocapps@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Bandston is a general-audience trivia game and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. The Daily Challenge leaderboard and Cloud Backup don't ask for any personal information beyond an optional, freely-chosen display name, and never ask for an email address, birthdate, or other identifying details. The app's advertising data collection (the AdMob advertising identifier, described above) is handled according to Google's own policies for age-appropriate ad serving.
If you play the Daily Challenge or use Cloud Backup, your device ID, display name, stats, and scores are stored on our server for as long as you keep using those features, or until you request deletion (see "Your choices" above). IP addresses logged for abuse prevention are deleted automatically after about a day. Locally stored data persists on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Any data collected by AdMob is retained according to Google's own retention practices.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Bandston after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Questions about this policy or how Bandston handles information can be sent to netocapps@gmail.com.
